Dilla Drum Swings

How do you make Dilla drum beat patterns? You need some serious swing to start off. This preset library contains 35 metronome patterns transcribed from Detroit-style hip hop and neo-soul beats from the late 2000s. Each swing pattern comes with a midi file, Ableton groove and an audio loop for quick referencing. Two versions are provided with straight (fixed) and dynamic velocity swings for more creative options.

How To Use

Midi File: The midi file can be imported and used to trigger drum samples in any compatible software or hardware sampler. It can also be used as a template pattern to build beats by copying the notes for the kick and snare. Starting off with a hi-hat works best.

Ableton Groove File: Simply import the files into the groove pool and apply the swing pattern to any audio or midi track.

Audio Loop Playlist: The audio loop (click track) playlist is provided as a preview guide to quickly find a swing pattern.
